Field Engineer - Integration & Commissioning (Ericsson/Nokia, T-Mobile Cell Sites) Location: Tennessee & Kentucky or Alabama or Oklahoma Salary: $450 Per Site (2 Sites Per Day Maximum), 1099 Contract Company: Startech Networks Position Overview We are seeking an experienced Field Engineer to join our Integration & Commissioning (I&C) team. This role involves deploying to cell sites for installation, commissioning, troubleshooting, and integration of Ericsson and Nokia OEM equipment for T-Mobile and other major carriers. The ideal candidate will bring hands-on technical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently while supporting field crews and remote integration teams. Key Responsibilities Installation & Integration Install and integrate Ericsson equipment including 6630/6648/6651/6672 basebands, 5216 with 6601 & XMU, DUS/DUG/DUW, AIR radios (4415/4424/4449/4460/6449/6488, AIR32), IXRE routers. Install and integrate Nokia AirScale FSMF/FSME/FSM4, ABIA/ABIO/ASIA/ASIB/ASIK/ABIL/ABIP AMIA, AMID modules, and mid-band conversion scopes (AHFIG, AEHC, AAHF). Configure and integrate 7705 SAS/SAR routers, IXRE routers, SIAD, SAR-M/SAR-F, Cisco ASR 910. Perform Microwave commissioning and testing as needed. Ensure compliance with power (-48V, V), grounding, fiber handling, coax installation, and labeling standards. Commissioning & Testing Execute New Site Builds (NSB), carrier adds, sector adds, and cabinet expansions. Load software, scripts, and configuration files under Remote Integration Center (RIC) direction. Conduct system validation, alarm testing, RET verification, VSWR/RSSI analysis, and fiber loss testing. Perform SRS, E911, and data call testing across GSM, UMTS, LTE, and 5G bands. Troubleshoot and resolve integration, transport, and hardware issues. Documentation & Reporting Accurately interpret RFDS, site drawings, and construction documents. Maintain daily logs, End-of-Day reports, and Closeout Packages (COP, TalonView/NDPD). Track and report OEM equipment handling, scanning, and warehouse disposition. Ensure compliance with customer and market installation standards and quality audits. Collaboration & Support Coordinate with construction crews, RIC teams, and project managers during site builds and troubleshooting. Provide technical guidance and train junior field engineers as needed. Support escalations with timely communication and corrective actions. Required Skills & Experience Certifications needed( Mandatory) Need to Have Valid OSHA10 Construction, Adult CPR & First Aid, RF Awareness, Blood borne Pathogens certifications Nokia Certified L0 & L1 licenses needed Ericsson Installation & Integration Certification L1, L2, L3 or related commissioning certifications T-Mobile GC academy certification for Nokia & Ericsson. Technical Background 3-5 years' experience in cell site installation, commissioning, and integration. Hands-on experience with Ericsson 6630/6648/6651/6672 basebands, 5216 with controllers, AIR radios, IXRE routers. Hands-on experience with Nokia AirScale FSMF/FSME/FSM4, ABIA/ABIO/ASIA/ASIB/ASIK/ABIL modules, mid-band conversion scopes, IXRE routers, 7705 SAS/SAR routers. Strong knowledge of RF, fiber, coax, Ethernet, and DC power systems. Familiarity with Microwave, SIAD, SAR-M/F, and Cisco ASR 910 integration. Experience with RET systems, VSWR, RSSI, and RF troubleshooting. Industry Knowledge Understanding of 5G/4G LTE/UMTS/CDMA commissioning and testing procedures. Experience working with T-Mobile, AT&T, Verizon, or Sprint projects. Knowledge of market-specific installation standards, labeling, and documentation. Professional Skills Ability to interpret RFDS, design documents, and construction drawings. Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills under pressure. Excellent written and verbal communication for reporting and escalation handling. Comfortable working independently in field environments and remote regions. Other Requirements Bachelor's degree in Telecommunications, Engineering, or equivalent experience. Valid driver's license; ability to travel up to 100% regionally/nationally. Willingness to work nights, weekends, and maintenance windows as needed. Must be physically able to climb, lift, and work in outdoor/rooftop cell site environments. Preferred Skills Experience with Nokia/Ericsson OEM integration. Certifications in fiber optics, RF, or DC power systems. Familiarity with safety standards (OSHA, RF awareness). Prior experience with construction crew coordination and small cell/DAS deployments.
