Under the general guidance of the director of Employee Health/Travel Health, the Nurse Practitioner will plan, implement and maintain a program of health services for employees and others.
1 - Performs preplacement evaluations on new employees utilizing a high level of physical assessment skills.

a - Accurately with appropriate documentation.

b - Performed efficiently, within 1/2 hour.

2 - Provides routine and emergency care to employees recognizing urgent employee health situations and/or makes appropriate recommendations and/or health care referrals based on skilled assessment findings.

a - Consults when necessary.

b - Orders appropriate diagnostic tests.

3 - Serves as clinical resource to employees and provides employees with counseling and advice pertaining to personal problems, work conflicts, alcohol, drug involvement, smoking, stress, weight/diet and all other wellness related problems

a - Knowledgeable concerning health promotion issues.

b - Adapts teaching to employee level of knowledge, comprehension.

4 - Provides appropriate counseling, vaccinations, medications, and other services to patients traveling internationally.

5 - Understands leadership role during emergency code situations.

6 - Achieve and maintains prescriptive authority in accordance with the Massachusets Department of Public Health and the federal DEA.
